With springtime just around the corner, my thoughts turn more and more to the time when I will start to plant seeds in my garden. I am always amazed when a tiny seed, with a little care, will soon be a plant that is yielding a bounty of peppers, tomatoes, or a variety of other wonderful things that I can enjoy.
That process can also be applied to starting your own home business. One day you begin with a small idea or plan to change your life for the better. You nurture that small beginning and with enough hard work and care, you hope to harvest a new and better life. This beginning is no different from planting a seed. If you plant the seed then deny it water, food, and light, then you will be lucky if anything happens.
Getting started can be one of the toughest steps in your quest for work from home. When I got started, I really had no idea how to build a website. Html might as well have been ancient Egyptian for all I knew about it. So like the gardener who instead of starting from a seed, goes out and gets his plants already started growing, I signed up for a program that gives you a website already setup and ready to go. Lucky for me, it also provided me with the tools to make my website grow and flourish, and that is a very important consideration when starting out.
Another important factor in work from home employment is FOCUS. Let’s say you have one small pot in which to plant. You place a seed carefully in the soil and push it a little way into the soil and cover it over. But wait, you have enough room to plant at least five more seeds. Well then, we will put in a melon over here, and corn over here and so on. If you do this, the plants will begin to grow, and they will look pretty good for awhile. Before long though, they will begin to choke each other out and eventually die. The same will happen to your work from home business. Stay focused on one program! When you have the business running nice and healthy, you can look into expanding your interest if you have the time to invest.
Learn as you go. Let me say that one more time. Learn as you go. Like I said, when I started I didn’t know html from Mandarin Chinese, and if you look at the different computer codes that make up a website, you feel the same way. The big surprise was that it is not as hard as it appears. Where did I go to learn more about this? Surprise, it was already on my own website, free to use and learn. Another bonus to signing on to my program is everything that I need from marketing to maintenance is right there at my fingertips. Keep this in mind when considering the program you want to work in and recommend to others.
You do not have to spend a pile of money! My seed catalog came in the mail a couple of weeks ago. It is amazing what they charge for a tiny little seed. If I sit down and buy what I want, I will soon be broke. Knowing the cost though, I try to save money by keeping seeds from previous year’s harvest. Those seeds grow just as well as the seeds in the catalogue and I save a considerable chunk of change. It is the same with your home business. You can spend an unlimited amount of money on your home business, but you don’t have to. Free work from home employment is completely obtainable. You just have to be willing to trade a little extra work for the ease of giving away your hard earned cash.
Last but not least, stay with it! A work from home opportunity will have its ups and downs, but will not survive and not grow, unless you give it your best every day. Some days I may only be able to spend one or two hours on my home business, but it is something. I guarantee the more time and effort you put in, the more that you will get back out. It works the same way in the garden. Plant the seeds and forget it and you probably will get nothing. Tend to it every day and one day you will have your bounty!
